A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Edie is a graduate of Shady Side Academy and Wesleyan University, where she received her BA in Letters and MALS in Social Sciences. At Wesleyan, Edie was a four-year letter winner and captain of both the field hockey and lacrosse teams. Before joining the Taft faculty in 2006, Edie worked at Carney, Sandoe & Associates and then Holderness School, where she served as the History Department Chair, dormitory head, wilderness program leader, as well as the varsity field hockey and varsity lacrosse coach. While at Taft, Edie has served in various roles in addition to teaching history, including Dormitory Head of Congdon House, Dean of the Lower Mid Class, and Associate Dean of Faculty. In 2015 Edie was appointed as the Dean of Faculty. Edie's husband is Admissions Officer and History Department teacher, Mark Traina. They live with their two daughters in Merriman House.
