Matthew received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin with a major in both Spanish Language and International Studies. While at the University of Wisconsin, Matthew spent a semester abroad at Pontificia Universidad La Catolica in Lima, Peru. Following graduation Matthew spent time as an English Language Instructor at Academia de Espanol in Antigua, Guatemala. In this position he taught English to working adults in Antigua. Matthew’s experience with teaching Spanish and translating also includes teaching English to a Spanish speaking population in Wilmington, DE, translating for the Michigan Legal Services for Spanish speaking homeowners facing foreclosure, and translating for a medical team setting up free clinics in Guatemala. Matthew has been an Americorps member and a crew leader for Habitat for Humanity in Washington, D.C. Most recently, Matthew completed the Penn Residency Masters of Teaching program and received his Masters of Science in Education through the University of Pennsylvania. At Taft, Matthew teaches Spanish, coaches soccer and lacrosse, and lives in ISP.
